Self Portrait Color Series: Red | Oakland, CA

This summer I am feeling all the color in my life! It has been on my photography bucket list to do a color series. I found myself working on my next Unraveled Academy Course: Self Portraits in 5 minutes and the kick off to the color series just happened.

I began with these butterflies I bought at Michaels (they didn’t even end up in the photos) and kind of quickly developed the idea as I was setting up and putting on my make up. An easy way to stay motivated for self portraits is to skip doing my hair which means I pull a wig from my wig collection. For some reason red stuck out to me to go with the butterflies which then led to what backdrop to use. I wanted something super easy and didn’t require much effort. In our closet we have an old red curtain. I pulled that from the closet and went into my kitchen where I flipped my kitchen table on its side and draped the curtain over it. Following the red theme, I added red lipstick and red dress. When looking for anything else fun I came across these super fun red glasses! The results are this!
